During the 3-week festival held annually at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts called 2ube Xtra, I took up multiple roles, including FOH Engineering for some bands and Monitor Engineering for others. However, the majority of my work at the 2024 festival was as a Broadcast Mixing Engineer and as the Technical Services and Maintenance Technician. In this role, I provided technical advice and assistance to the team of engineers and performed maintenance on backline equipment, microphones, and DI boxes that came back broken from the night's show. I ensured that the maintenance was performed to a standard that allowed the team to trust the equipment would reliably work to its full potential again the next day.
Working in a team of many technicians technicians on this show was a highly rewarding experience. It allowed me to collaborate closely with all the crew, enhancing our collective problem-solving and technical skills. The teamwork was excellent, and I enjoyed this collaborative environment, contributing effectively to the success of the festival.
